Rehab after surgery

Physical therapy in Bergen County, NJ. You can start without a doctor's referral.

Physical therapy after surgery gets you moving again, step by step, working with your surgeon's plan. Within 30 days of your first treatment, your physical therapist also checks in with your doctor about your care.

Takes about a minute on your phone.

Some insurance plans and Medicare still ask for a doctor's note. We check yours before your first visit.

What we often see

  • Knee and hip replacements
  • ACL and other ligament repairs
  • Rotator cuff and other shoulder repairs
  • Spine surgery
  • Ankle, wrist and other fracture repairs

Your first visit

Bring your surgery notes and any instructions from your surgeon. We check your movement, strength, swelling and the area around the scar, go over your surgeon's limits, and plan your sessions around them.

What happens after you book

When to see a doctor first

If any of these apply, please get medical care before booking. A physical therapist will also refer you on if something needs a doctor.

  • Chest pain or shortness of breath: call 911.
  • A calf that's suddenly painful, swollen or warm: call your surgeon right away, as it can be a blood clot.
  • Redness, warmth, discharge or a fever around the wound: call your surgeon.
